10 Strange Things We Did in Austria

WARNING: Seriously long post with lots of pics..Pity to those on dial up haha..

1. Visited the Vienna Zoo
Seriously..We did visit the zoo. It's because it was situated in the Schonbrunn Palace grounds. The weather was nice, the sun glaring brightly. Luckily I brought my sunglasses along, so I was the only one not squinting hahah..

3. Rode the rollercoaster in the rain
Hahah this is one of the crazy things we did on this trip. The rain was pelting our face and it was painful. Yat: Can't even scream because the water would then get in the mouth.. But it was fun. Aida, you missed out on this experience!

4. Climbed a 500+m hill when there was a funicular[cable car?] available
Yes, we are crazy. But the view from the top of the hill was worth it. We came down by funicular though..

That's the fortress on top of the hill in Salzburg

5. Climbed the same hill again during the rain and at dusk
To enjoy the scenery again heheh..I think we did lots of climbing on this trip haha..Good exercise indeed..

6. Ate lots of new and strange Austrian food. Some were delicious, some were not hahah
Austria has lots of cafes. And they seem to have lots of chocolates and deserts[is this the correct one heheh]

At the cafe named Aida[yes, Aida has her own chain of cafes there :P] with Julia

Knudel or something - Dumpling shaped ice cream with something in the middle and coated with nuts..mine is chocolate with vanilla inside..

The famous kasnockerl hahahah - smells like old socks..Really! Even the hostel receptionist warned us about the smell. The secret to eating this is putting lots of pepper on top hahaha..

Don't worry..it's just orange soda..

9. Worked behind a bar to pay for our board
Coz we ran out of money...Austria is so darn expensive..

NOT! heheh We're making Maggi..the bartender told us to get the hot water ourselves :P

10. Searched and found durians at the Vienese market
Hahah of all the places to search for durians, we did it in Vienna. Luckily we did find one. But no one remembered to take a picture! It was sold at 10euros per kg. We didn't do it for fun. Julia[the girl in one of the pics above] wanted us to show her which one is the durian fruit and she planned to buy it later..

So that's the end of the entry. Maybe I'll post some more scenery pics. Or maybe I won't [My laziness is well known kan..hahaha]
